Chattanooga, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Casey Jones scored 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting as the Chattanooga Mocs defeated the UNC Greensboro Spartans 77-67 in a Southern Conference brawl at McKenzie Arena.
Z. Mason tacked on 15 points for Chattanooga (14-8, 8-0 SoCon), which remained perfect in league play, while picking up its 10th straight win overall. Martynas Bareika added 12 points and Ronrico White chipped in 11.
Tevon Saddler led all scorers with 24 points for UNC Greensboro (10-12, 3-4), which has lost three straight. Kayel Locke and Kyle Cain scored 14 and 11 points, respectively.
The Mocs were in control at halftime, leading 39-28. They connected on 46.7 percent from the field in the first period and limited the Spartans to 34.4 percent.
After halftime the Spartans were able to make things interesting, by shooting 57.1 percent from the floor, compared to 47.6 percent from the Mocs. However, the home team had a 15-6 scoring edge from the free-throw line in the period, allowing it to hold on.
Chattanooga was helped to victory by a 29-13 advantage in points off of turnovers.
