Final Score: North Dakota State 83, Western Michigan 74
Kalamazoo, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Taylor Braun scored 23 points, leading four starters in double figures, as the North Dakota State Bison registered an 83-74 win over the Western Michigan Broncos in non-conference play at University Arena.
Marshall Bjorklund accounted for 18 points, TrayVonn Wright 16 and Lawrence Alexander 10 points, to go along with five rebounds, five assists and three steals for the Bison (2-2) as they snapped a two-game slide.
The Broncos (3-2) were paced by David Brown who tallied a game-high 27 points, but he shot only 1-of-9 behind the 3-point line on the night. Connar Tava and Shayne Whittington both contributed 16 points, the latter pulling down a game- high nine rebounds.
WMU led by three points early on, but the team ended up shooting just 9-of-25 from the floor and 2-of-10 beyond the arc through the first 20 minutes of action, allowing NDSU to grab a 40-31 lead at the break.
In the second half the Broncos stepped up with 50.0 percent accuracy from the field, but again the team's effort from the perimeter (2-of-13) was sorely lacking as they absorbed the loss.
The Bison finished the meeting with an impressive 58.5 percent accuracy from the floor.
