Bowling Green, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - T.J. Price tallied 28 points and six rebounds as the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers held off the Samford Bulldogs, 67-64, at E.A. Diddle Arena.
Price shot 8-of-16 from the field, including 4-of-10 from 3-point range, and made all eight of his free-throw attempts for WKU (3-1). George Fant added 17 points and three blocks for the home team.
For Samford (1-5), Isaiah Williams netted 15 points, Tim Williams registered 11 points and eight rebounds, and Raijon Kelly scored 10 points off the bench.
Samford shot a lofty 50 percent from the field in the first half, but WKU was even better at 56.5 percent, as it carried a 34-31 lead into intermission.
The Bulldogs caught fire at the beginning of the second half and took a 51-43 lead with just over eight minutes to play, but the Hilltoppers pieced together a 17-4 run and took the lead for good on a Caden Dickerson 3-pointer with 2:54 left. Down by three with time winding down, Kelly missed what would have been the game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer as WKU pulled out the win.
WKU shot 15-of-20 from the foul line on the night, while Samford was just 5- of-9 from the stripe.
