College Station, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Jamal Jones posted a game-high 21 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Texas A&M Aggies defeated the Houston Cougars, 74-57, in non-conference action at Reed Arena.
Kourtney Roberson pitched in with 14 points and seven rebounds for the Aggies (7-2), followed by Davonte Fitzgerald and J'Mychal Reese with 10 points apiece as the team snapped a two-game slide.
The Cougars (6-3), losers of three of the last four, were paced by TaShawn Thomas who filled his stat line with 16 points, a11 rebounds, five blocked shots and four assists. J.J. Richardson produced 11 points in 19 minutes off the bench.
Houston led by as many as four points early in the first half, but the team ended up shooting just 36.1 percent from the field in the period, including 2- of-8 behind the 3-point line, en route to a 38-32 deficit at the break.
After shooting 55.6 percent from the floor through the first 20 minutes, A&M made good on 45.2 percent in the second half, still far superior to the 30.8 percent effort by the visitors.
The Aggies made it to the free-throw line just six times on the night, hitting all six opportunities, all while outscoring Houston beyond the arc, 30-9.
