Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Cameron Bell scored 17 points off the bench as the FIU Panthers took down the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans, 65-52, in a Sun Belt Conference conflict at U.S. Century Bank Arena.
Jerome Frink added 13 points, Deric Hill tacked on 12 and Tymell Murphy chipped in 11 for FIU (15-12, 10-8 Sun Belt) which has won consecutive games.
John Gillon and Michael Javes each had 12 points for Arkansas-Little Rock (15-13, 9-8) which has lost four of its last five.
After a tightly contested first half, FIU led 29-25 by shooting 48.1 percent from the floor. The Trojans were hot on the Panthers' heels, shooting 47.6 percent from the field though they made good on just 1-of-7 from beyond the arc.
In the second half the Panthers shot 45 percent from the field and hit 15- of-16 from the free-throw line to pull away for the victory.
The two teams combined for 46 turnovers but FIU earned a 25-18 edge in points off takeaways.
