Reno, NV (Sports Network) - Dario Hunt recorded a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 14 rebounds as Nevada dismissed Louisiana Tech, 79-69, in Western Athletic Conference play at the Lawlor Events Center.
Also scoring in double figures for the Wolf Pack (25-5, 13-1 WAC) were Deonte Burton with 20 points, Jerry Evans 13 and Malik Story 11 points as the squad closed out the regular season with three straight wins and will open the upcoming WAC Tournament as the top seed.
The Bulldogs (16-15, 6-8) were paced by Romario Souza who tallied 15 points, Trevor Gaskins 13, Cordarius Johnson 12 points off the bench and Raheem Appleby 10 as he shot just 5-of-14 from the floor as the team had a five-game win streak snapped.
A close game in the first half, LaTech was able to grab a 29-27 lead at the break despite shooting just 37.9 percent from the floor and 3-of-10 behind the three-point line. Nevada didn't help itself with only 4-of-8 accuracy at the free-throw line.
In the second half the Bulldogs pushed their advantage to six points less than two minutes in, but the hosts took control with 56.3 percent shooting from the floor and 11-of-15 at the charity stripe to grab the double-digit win.
The Pack managed to survive an unsightly 19 turnovers on the night.
