NCAA Game Summary - Rider at Iona

New Rochelle, NY (Sports Network) - Lamont Jones supplied 32 points for the
Iona Gaels to lift them over the Rider Broncs, 78-71, in a Metro Atlantic
Athletic matchup at the Hynes Center.
Although Jones was just 1-of-5 from 3-point range, he was 10-of-19 from the
floor and 11-of-13 from the free-throw line for the Gaels (15-10, 9-5 MAAC),
who dug out of a three-game slump. Sean Armand also added a big performance
with 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 shooting from
beyond the arc.
Rider (13-13, 8-6) was led by Jonathan Thompson who was 9-of-14 from the field
and knocked down four 3-pointers to record 26 points to go with five assists.
Anthony Myles added 19 points for the Broncs who have lost four of their last
six.
Iona was 14-of-16 from the charity stripe in the first half and led 38-31 at
intermission.
In the second half the Gaels shot 58.3 percent from the field which was enough
to hold off the Broncs who shot 53.6 percent in the period.
Both teams shot 50.0 percent from the field for the game but the Gaels were
able to make 21-of-26 attempts from the free-throw line while Rider made 10-
of-17.
