Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Royce O'Neale led five players in double
figures with 12 points as the Denver Pioneers cruised by the visiting Southern
Utah Thunderbirds, 72-47, at Magness Arena.
O'Neale hit 5-of-7 shots from the floor, including 2-of-3 from 3-point
range in the Denver (4-6) victory. Chase Hallam scored 11 points while Brett
Olson and Nate Engesser contributed 10 points a piece. Cam Griffin chipped in
12 points off the bench.
For the Thunderbirds (3-7), Jackson Stevenett scored a team-high 12 points.
Jayson Cheesman scored 10 points and recorded six rebounds.
Denver led 40-20 at the end of the first half. The Pioneers shot a
solid 56.0 percent from the field while limiting the visitors to a mere 1-of-6
from three-point range.
The Thunderbirds shot better in the second half (42.9 percent) but Denver
continued to shoot well, making 12-of-22 shots from the floor, en route to the
25-point victory.
