Madison, WI (Sports Network) - Joe Harris led the way with 22 points as the
Virginia Cavaliers downed the Wisconsin Badgers, 60-54, at the Kohl Center as
part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
For the Cavaliers (5-2), Darion Arkins added 14 points and Akil Mitchell
posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Ben Brust led the Badgers (4-3) with 15 points while Jared Berggren chipped in
with 12 points.
Virginia shot 45.5 percent from the field in the first half as it took a
24-23 lead into the break. Wisconsin struggled with its shooting in the first
half, making just 37 percent of its field goals, but was able to connect on 3-
of-9 from beyond the three-point line.
In the second half the Badgers improved slightly, connecting on 39.3 percent
from the field and 5-of-13 from three-point range. The Cavaliers hit on 45.8
of their field goal attempts and 5-of-13 from long range after the break. An
11-4 scoring advantage at the free-throw line in the second half helped the
Cavaliers hold on for the victory.
Virginia outrebounded Wisconsin, 36-25, and outscored the Badgers 14-4 at the
charity stripe overall.
