Chattanooga, TN (Sports Network) - Derrell Armstrong hit a layup with 16
seconds left to give the UNC Greensboro Spartans a 77-76 win over the
Chattanooga Mocs in Ohio Valley Conference action at McKenzie Arena.
Travis Simpson topped all scorers with 28 points for the Spartans (11-15, 9-5
SoCon). Kyle Randall finished with 11 points and Armstrong 10. Aloysius Henry
grabbed seven rebounds.
Drazen Zlovaric scored 22 points for the Mocs (10-17, 4-10). Omar Wattad added
15 points, Ricky Taylor 12, and Jahmal Burroughs 10. Burroughs also grabbed 12
rebounds, while Keegan Bell handed out six assists.
The Spartans trailed by 11 at one point in the first half, but led 38-37 at
the break after shooting 44.8 percent from the floor. The Mocs shot 12-of-38
from the field including a 3-of-17 effort from three point range.
The Mocs overcame a 10-point deficit to lead 76-73 with 1:01 left in the
game, but Henry hit two foul shots at the 54-second mark to make it a one-
point game before Armstrong's game-winning layup. Taylor and Bell missed shots
for the Mocs in the final seconds.
The Spartans prevailed despite being outrebounded 43-35.
