GAME NOTES: Chattanooga will get back to Southern Conference play on Saturday night, when the Mocs travel south to take on the Samford Bulldogs.

Chattanooga stepped out of league action on Tuesday and was dealt a 74-63 defeat at the hands of Eastern Kentucky. Z. Mason led all scorers with 23 points to go along with 12 rebounds, while Martynas Bareika chipped in with 12 points in the loss, which came as a result of committing 24 turnovers -- 15 in the second half alone.

The Mocs have won all but one of 10 conference bouts this season, placing the team atop the league standings along with Davidson

Casey Jones, who had led the Mocs in scoring in each of the previous three outings, was limited to eight points on Tuesday and is producing 12.1 ppg as he shoots 57.8 percent from the floor. Getting far more attention is Mason who is not only first in scoring with 18.1 ppg, he is also the league leader on the glass with 9.6 rpg and has registered 72 blocked shots, more than all of his teammates combined. The Mocs are putting up a solid 76.4 ppg, but at the same time allowing 73.7 ppg.

Samford did not do any favors for Chattanooga on Thursday, as the Bulldogs dropped a 109-88 decision to Davidson.

Tim Williams netted a team-high 26 points for the Bulldogs, who lost at home for just the third time this season. Raijon Kelly contributed 19 points, Jordan Capps had 12 and Brandon Roberts scored 11.

The red-hot Wildcats knocked down 11-of-13 attempts from behind the 3-point line in the first half, and Samford never recovered from a 17-point deficit at the break.

Tim Williams up upped his lead in scoring average this season, as he is now netting 17.1 ppg to go with a team-best 7.3 rpg. Isaiah Williams is second with 12.0 ppg, and Kelly checks in at third with 10.8 ppg. Isaiah Williams leads the squad with 3.4 apg, and Tim Williams tops the roster with 33 steals and 34 blocked shots.

These teams met back on Jan. 9 and Chattanooga came away with a 90-81 decision. Mason notched a double-double in that one and Ronrico White poured in 28 points in the triumph. White was held scoreless on Tuesday and committed seven turnovers. A return to SoCon play is just what the doctor ordered for White and the Mocs.
