University Park, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - John Johnson led the five Nittany Lions who scored in double-figures with 20 points as Penn State downed the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers, 92-82, in non-conference action at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Johnson went 8-of-11 from the field in 22 minutes off the bench for PSU (9-4) in his program debut while D.J. Newbill tallied 18 points and six rebounds. Ross Travis and Brandon Taylor contributed 14 and 10 points, respectively, and also pulled down six boards apiece. Tim Frazier contributed 15 points and six assists for the Nittany Lions.

Julian Norfleet paced the Mountaineers (3-8) with 22 points and seven assists. Sam Prescott scored 18 points, Rashad Whack added 16 points and Byron Ashe provided a spark off the bench with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field. The setback dropped Mount St. Mary's to an 0-7 away record.

The Mountaineers knocked down 9-of-16 attempts from behind the 3-point line and shot 56.7 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes of the contest to take a 46-37 lead into the intermission. PSU connected on 46.7 percent of its attempts from the floor, but missed all five its tries from beyond the arc in the first period.

The Nittany Lions stormed back in the second stanza thanks to their 59.4 percent efficiency from the floor and 15-of-20 performance at the free-throw line. Mount St. Mary's cooled off to make only 3-of-10 shots from 3-point range after the break.

PSU enjoyed a 34-29 edge in the rebounding battle and outscored the Mountaineers, 62-26, in the paint.
