GAME NOTES: The Bowling Green Falcons continue their five-game home stand on Saturday afternoon against the Samford Bulldogs.

Winners in three of their last four games, the Falcons are coming off a 54-41 triumph over Wright State on Monday. A'uston Calhoun scored a game-high 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Calhoun made just 3-of-11 shots from the floor but did convert all 12 of his attempts at the charity stripe. Jordon Crawford added 11 points, and the Falcons won despite shooting only 32.7 percent from the field. Bowling Green held Wright State scoreless over the final 5:47.

Calhoun and Crawford make up a huge part of the offense for the Falcons, as each averages 16.6 ppg, with the former pacing the squad with 6.9 rpg as well. Calhoun is 32-of-40 from the charity stripe this season, but has been clutch recently by making 14 in a row. Against Wright State, he became the first BGSU player to make 10 free throws in a game since Martin Samarco in January of 2007. Calhoun needs 14 points to become the 40th player in school history to post 1,000 for his career. Crawford has connected on 14 of his last 16 foul shots. Getting out to a lead has proven to be beneficial for the Falcons this season, as they have trailed at the half just once. Sophomore transfer Richaun Holmes provides 5.3 ppg off the bench, but he has made an incredible 18-of-24 shots from the floor thus far. The problem for BGSU has been long-range shooting, as the Falcons are a dismal 5-of-30 from 3-point range in their last two games.

The Bulldogs dropped an 88-56 decision to defending national champs Kentucky on Tuesday, this after posting just their second win of the season on Dec. 1 against Georgia Southern. Samford got a balanced scoring effort against the Wildcats as four of its starters reached double digits led by Raijon Kelly with 14, all coming in the second half. Clide Geffrard chipped in 12 points, and Connor Miller and Tim Williams each netted 11, but Samford lost for the sixth time in its last seven contests.

Williams paces Samford with 15.1 points and 8.3 rebounds a game, and Kelly is the only other double-digit scorer (13.5). As a team, the Bulldogs are shooting 40.9 percent from the field and are averaging 59.8 ppg, third-worst in the Southern Conference. They're also struggling (.638) at the foul line.

A win would push the Falcons above .500 for the first time this season. BGSU is 6-0 all-time when scoring at least 70 points in the Stroh Center. The Falcons should stay unbeaten when reaching that number, but they shouldn't look too far ahead to their next game, Dec. 18, at home against nationally- ranked Michigan State.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Bowling Green 78, Samford 62
