Statesboro, GA (Sports Network) - Jake Cohen scored 16 points to lead the Davidson Wildcats to a 71-54 win over the Georgia Southern Eagles in Southern Conference action at the Hanner Fieldhouse.
J.P. Kuhlman scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Wildcats (22-7, 16-2 SoCon) who will be the top seed out of the South Division for next week's Southern Conference Tournament. De'Mon Brooks added 14 points and Nik Cochran 12, while Cohen also accounted for eight rebounds and four blocked shots for the visitors.
Jelani Hewitt scored 17 points for the Eagles (14-14, 12-6) who will be the third seed from the South Division for the conference tournament; they lost out to Wofford for the second seed on a tiebreaker. Eric Ferguson added 13 points.
Davidson took a 33-24 lead at halftime after shooting 45.4 percent from the floor in the first half. The lead could have been larger if not for the fact that the Wildcats made just 1-of-10 shots behind the three-point line.
The Wildcats shot an even 50 percent from the floor after halftime and were 16-of-21 at the free-throw line.
Davidson, which finished the night a mere 1-of-14 beyond the arc, had a 48-33 edge on the glass.
