Boone, NC (Sports Network) - Andrew Lawrence posted a game-high 24 points and passed out seven assists to lead the College of Charleston Cougars to a 74-62 victory over the Appalachian State Mountaineers in a Southern Conference tussle at the Holmes Center.
Trent Wiedeman added 14 points in the win for Charleston (14-10, 6-7 SoCon), while Nori Johnson contributed 11 points.
Nathan Healy scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds to pace APSU (9-13, 5-7), while Isaac Butts and Tab Hamilton netted 10 points each.
APSU was limited to a meager 39.4 percent from the floor during the opening period of play, enabling the Cougars to take a 35-32 lead into the break.
In the second half, the Cougars hit 47.8 percent of their attempts from the field and sunk 13-of-16 at the foul line to roll to a 12-point win.
The Cougars netted 17-of-22 at the charity stripe during the contest.
