NCAA Game Summary - Elon at Appalachian State
(Saturday, January 28th) Final Score: Appalachian State 81, Elon 66 Boone, NC (Sports Network) - Omar Carter and Jamaal Trice scored 20 points apiece, as the Appalachian State Mountaineers routed the Elon Phoenix, 81-66 in Southern Conference play at the Holmes Center. Carter also pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds while coming off the bench for the third straight game. Andre Williamson added nine points and 10 boards for the Mountaineers (9-11, 5-5 SoCon), who have now won seven in a row against Elon. Jack Isenbarger paced the Phoenix (10-10, 5-4) with 20 points behind a 4-of-7 effort from the perimeter. Austin Hamilton chipped in with 10 points, while Lucas Troutman scored nine and pulled down 10 rebounds. The Mountaineers enjoyed a slim 29-26 halftime lead thanks to a stifling defensive effort, as they held Elon to 8-of-28 shooting (.286) in the opening frame. Appalachian State could hardly miss in the second stanza, connecting on 19- of-25 attempts (.760) from the floor to take control. The Mountaineers have found some success of late with Carter coming off the bench, as he keyed a 33-10 scoring advantage for the ASU bench over Elon's reserves.
