(Monday, November 21st)
Final Score: Oral Roberts 62, SMU 56
Tulsa, OK (Sports Network) - Dominique Morrison lit up the scoreboard for a game-high 30 points as he led the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles to a 62-56 win over the SMU Mustangs as part of the consolation round of the NIT Season Tip- Off at the Mabee Center.
Morrison connected on 10-of-16 shots from the floor for the Golden Eagles (3-2) as they won their third straight outing. Steven Roundtree, named the Summit League Player of the Week on Monday, responded with 11 points and seven rebounds.
The Mustangs (2-3) were paced by Robert Nyakundi with 16 points, shooting 4- of-7 beyond the arc, followed by London Giles and Jalen Jones with 12 points apiece and Jeremiah Samarrippas 11 points in the setback.
A very slow game to start off, SMU held a three-point lead at the 13:48 mark of the first half after ORU had notched just a single field goal, but after that the Golden Eagles began to hit their marks and moved out to a 30-17 advantage at the break.
In the second half the Mustangs made things interesting with an even 50 percent shooting effort from the floor, but Oral Roberts countered with 18- of-22 shooting at the free-throw line to secure the six-point decision.
The Golden Eagles sealed the win at the charity stripe where they outscored the visitors, 22-10.
