Stillwater, OK (Sports Network) - Cezar Guerrero scored 29 points to lead Oklahoma State past stubborn Texas-San Antonio 90-85 in overtime in the NIT Season Tip-Off at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The win sends the Cowboys into the tournament semifinals in New York next week to take on Stanford. Le'Bryan Nash scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Cowboys (3-0). Jean-Paul Olukemi finished with 12 points and Reger Dowell added 11. Philip Jurick grabbed 10 rebounds, for OSU, which finished with a 49-31 advantage in rebounding.
Michael Hale scored 26 points for the Roadrunners (2-1) in the loss. Kannon Burrage poured in 19 points, followed by Jeromie Hill with 16 and Igor Nujic with 12. Nujic and Hill grabbed seven rebounds each to pace the team.
Oklahoma State led 30-25 at halftime.The five-point margin matched the Cowboys' biggest lead of the night.
Texas-San Antonio was up by 11 with 4:40 left in regulation, but the hosts rallied down the stretch to force overtime.
Guerrero stole an inbounds pass and hit a three-pointer with 8.8 seconds left in regulation to force the extra period.
The Roadrunners led by four in overtime before the Cowboys rallied. Guerrero's three-pointer in the final minute of the extra period put Oklahoma State in front for good. The hosts were 6-of-9 from the floor in overtime.
Guerrero's performance tied the school's freshman scoring record. He finished 10-of-23 from the floor, including 8-of-17 from long range.
