Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Rodney Pierce notched 31 points to lead Buffalo to a thorough 81-64 victory over Liberty in the consolation round of the UCF Holiday Classic.
John Boyer filled the stat sheet with 15 points, nine assists and four rebounds for the Bulls (7-4), who were surprised in the opening round of this event on Tuesday, dropping an 83-73 decision to a Jacksonville club that had just one win. Calvin Betts added 15 points and eight rebounds in the win.
Evan Gordon paced Liberty with 17 points, and Kyle Ohman scored 12 for the Flames (6-8), an 85-58 loser to host UCF on Tuesday
Buffalo used a 10-0 run late in the first half to take a 43-30 halftime lead.
The Bulls nailed 7-of-17 attempts from behind the arc in the opening 20 minutes and never let their lead dip below double digits thanks to a 13-of-16 effort from the foul line in the second stanza.
