GAME NOTES: The Buffalo Bulls and Liberty Flames square off today in the consolation round of the UCF Holiday Classic in Orlando.

The Bulls were surprised in the opening round of this event on Tuesday, dropping an 83-73 decision to a Jacksonville club that had just one win. The setback snapped Buffalo's three-game win streak, as it dipped to 6-4 on the campaign.

As for the Flames, they took on host UCF last night and were blown out in an 82-58 final. The defeat brought Liberty's small two-game win streak to a close and dropped the squad to 6-7 on the season.

In terms of the all-time series, Buffalo leads Liberty, 2-0, including a 72-66 victory during the 2006-07 season.

The Bulls shot a lackluster 39.1 percent from the floor, meanwhile, Jacksonville hit on 51.0 percent of its field goals in an 83-73 decision on Tuesday. Rodney Pierce guided Buffalo in defeat with 26 points and four steals, while Calvin Betts notched a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Pierce currently tops the roster in scoring at 17.1 ppg for the season, and Betts adds 11.8 ppg and a team-high 8.4 rpg to the rotation.

The Flames were dominated on the boards, 47-31, and outscored at the foul line, 19-10, as they were handled by UCF last night. Liberty also struggled with its shooting, hitting on just 33.3 percent from the floor, including only 6-of-25 from long range. Kyle Ohman guided the team in the setback with 18 points and a pair of steals. Ohman is the only player on the club averaging in double figures for the season at 14.2 ppg.

Buffalo has a bit more of a potent attack and that should help it get past Liberty in this one.
