UCLA's Korver out for season with ACL tear

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - UCLA sophomore guard Kari Korver will miss the upcoming season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee.

"This is very disappointing for Kari and our program," Bruins head coach Cori Close said. "My heart goes out to her. She has worked really hard this summer to prepare for the upcoming season and has made great strides in becoming a better athlete while improving her skill set. We will definitely miss her out on the court. But one thing I know, she will find different ways to impact the team and will come back stronger than ever from this."

Korver, a cousin to Atlanta Hawks guard Kyle Korver, averaged 4.7 points and 1.5 rebounds per contest during her freshman campaign, but was the club leader in three-pointers (38) and free-throw shooting percentage (92 percent).

Korver is no stranger to this type of injury, having lost her entire senior season in high school due to a torn ACL in her left knee.
