Petkovic to meet American Rogers for Bad Gastein title

Bad Gastein, Austria (SportsNetwork.com) - Andrea Petkovic of Germany and American qualifier Shelby Rogers won semifinal matches Saturday and will meet for the title at the Nurnberger Gastein Ladies tennis tournament.

The fourth-seeded Petkovic rallied for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory over American Grace Min before Rogers pulled off a stunning 7-6 (14-12), 6-3 victory over second-seeded Sara Errani of Italy.

Rogers, ranked 147th in the world, saved four set points in the opener and won the lengthy tiebreaker on her fifth chance. She then rallied from a break down to win the second set in the upset of the world No. 14.

Errani was coming off a Wimbledon doubles title with fellow Italian Roberta Vinci and was denied her third final of 2014. She has yet to win a tournament this year, falling to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova at the Paris Indoors event in February before losing to Serena Williams in Rome three months later.

Rogers had a WTA record of just 1-3 this year entering this event, and had to win three qualifying matches just to reach the main draw this week.

Petkovic, meanwhile, will try for her fourth career title in her ninth final. She captured this title in 2009 and won her lone title match of 2014 with a victory over Jana Cepelova at the Family Circle Cup in Charleston back in April.

Sunday's winner will claim $47,000.
