The lefty was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft and has plenty of potential, even though he went 2-9 with a 4.93 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP in 96 2/3 innings with the Rockies last year. He's worth an add in NL-only leagues for now.

Pomeranz, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft, has 70 strikeouts, 23 walks and a 4.26 ERA in 11 starts with Triple-A this season after struggling last year in the majors and likely will be up to the majors again at some point this season.

Description: Colorado starter Drew Pomeranz will start Friday after he made it through a bullpen session Wednesday, the team announced.
Insight: The No. 5 overall pick in 2010 experienced soreness in his throwing arm after his last start. The left-hander has some upside but should only be used in NL-only leagues at this time.

Description: Drew Pomeranz was optioned to Colorado Springs. Don't be confused by this move, the 23-year-old is the Rockies No. 5 starter. It's simply they won't need him until April 15 because of the many scheduled off days.
Insight: The young lefty had a great spring with a 0.82 ERA and nine strikeouts in 11 innings. Unfortunately, like most rookies he'll be on an innings limit (170). Pomeranz was one of the key pieces in the Ubaldo Jimenez trade last summer and has a bright future. If you selected him, don't let him go.
