Description: Cardinals reliever Mitchell Boggs has been demoted to Triple-A Memphis. | Insight: Boggs was given the first chance to close after Jason Motte's elbow injury, but he has allowed 17 hits and 15 earned runs and walked 12 in 10 2/3 innings. Edward Mujica has performed well in the closer role, so Boggs can be dropped in all leagues.

Description: Cardinals closer Mitchell Boggs blew his second save of the season Sunday against the Brewers. He didn't even record an out in allowing a run on two hits in the top of the ninth. | Insight: Boggs took over for Jason Motte (elbow), but he has blown two saves, lost a game and allowed eight earned runs and six walks in 6 1/3 innings. We should eventually see flamethrowing Trevor Rosenthal claim the role, though Rosenthal allowed a two-run homer to Ryan Braun in the eighth inning Sunday.

Description: Cardinals RP Mitchell Boggs should get closing opportunities with Jason Motte sidelined by a mild elbow strain. | Insight: Boggs pitched well in 2012 with a 4-1 record, 2.21 ERA and 1.05 WHIP, but owns a total of four saves in his career, so there is no guarantee that he'll be successful in the role of closer.

Description: Cardinals RP Mitchell Boggs blew his first save as the Cards' closer, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) in just one-third of an inning of work. Boggs gave up 4 hits in his worst outing of the season. | Insight: Boggs was excellent over his last 8 outings so, as long as this is just a blip, should keep the closer job a bit longer.

Description: Mitchell Boggs picked up 3rd save on the season only allowing a double to Joey Votto in an otherwise seamless 9th inning. | Insight: Tony Larussa doesn't want to call him the closer but I picked him up and started him this week because he'll be getting the ball in the 9th inning with a chance to save a few games weekly.

Description: Cardinals RP Mitchell Boggs picked up his second save of the year, allowing just 1 hit in 1 1/3 innings against the Reds. | Insight: It appears as if Boggs is Tony LaRussa's choice as the team's closer; if you did not grab him from the free agent wire it is probably too late.

Description: Mitchell Boggs recorded his first save as he worked a pretty seamless 9th against the Nats in the second game of their double header. | Insight: Franklin is out at the closer in St. Louis and Boggs and his 1.80 ERA should be added in all leagues where saves have value.
