Russell Surber (68) and Chan Kim (67) are tied for fourth at eight-under 136.
Sloan began round two on the back nine and he parred the first eight holes he played. At the par-five 18th, Sloan made eagle to make the turn at minus-nine.
The 24-year-old Canadian parred the first three holes around the turn. After tripping to a bogey on the fourth, Sloan converted the second eagle of his round on the par-five fifth.
Sloan stumbled to another bogey on the par-three sixth to dip back to minus- nine. He birdied the par-five eighth to grab the second-round lead.
Alex Coe, who shared the first-round lead, struggled to a two-over 74 that included one birdie and three bogeys. He dropped into a share of 11th place at five-under 139.
