NCAA Game Summary - Texas-El Paso at Tulane

New Orleans, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Nick Montana's three touchdown passes led the Tulane Green Wave as they won in a 45-3 rout over the Texas-El Paso Miners in a Conference USA matchup at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Montana finished with 171 yards ion 12-of-19 passing to go with the three scores for Tulane (7-4, 5-2 C-USA). Orleans Darkwa had 137 yards and a touchdown on 17 rushes. Ryan Grant had eight receptions with 104 yards and two touchdowns. This was the final home game at the Superdome for the Green Wave, which moves to newly constructed Yulman Stadium in 2014.
The Miners' (2-9, 1-6) quarterback Mack Leftwich had 128 yards on 13-of-24 passing. Nathan Jeffery rushed for 47 yards on 14 carries. Eric Tomlinson grabbed four catches and tallied 71 yards.
Tulane started the game off strong by scoring twice in the first quarter. Darkwa had a 20-yard touchdown run and Devin Powell completed a seven-yard touchdown pass to Grant with 2:09 left in the first period of play.
In the beginning of the second quarter Montana threw a 17-yard pass to Rob Kelley for a touchdown.
Tulane got the ball back quickly, recovering a fumble, to take over at the Miners' 18-yard line, which set up Kelley for an eight-yard touchdown run.
UTEP answered with a 32-yard field goal from Jay Mattox to make the score 28-3.
Montana threw a four-yard touchdown pass to Marc Edwards with 2:09 remaining before the break. Cairo Santos added a 39-yard field goal as the second frame ended to give the Green Wave a 38-3 lead at the break.
Montana hit Grant on a 10-yard touchdown pass with 8:57 left in the third stanza for the final score of the game.
This was the final time the Green Wave call the venue home as they will move back to campus to the newly constructed Yulman Stadium in 2014.
The Miners failed to score a touchdown for the first time this season in the loss.
