Tempe, AZ (Sports Network) - Danny Sullivan threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to
Chris McGaha with five seconds remaining to lift the Arizona State Sun Devils
over the Washington Huskies, 24-17, in a Pac-10 Conference battle.
Sullivan threw for 263 yards for Arizona State (4-2, 2-1 Pac-10).
Jake Locker finished with 274 passing yards in defeat for Washington (3-4,
Washington opened the scoring less than three minutes into the contest, as
Locker threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to Devin Aguilar.
Arizona State responded just three minutes later, as Sullivan reached the end
zone on a one-yard run.
The only points of the second quarter came on a 32-yard touchdown pass from
Kyle Williams to T.J. Simpson, giving ASU a 14-7 advantage.
The Sun Devils extended their advantage to 17-7 with just under five minutes
left in the third quarter on a 24-yard field goal by Thomas Weber.
Washington then managed to cut its deficit to 17-14 on a 23-yard touchdown run
by Chris Polk.
With 3:50 remaining in the fourth quarter, Erik Folk hit a 29-yard field goal
for the Huskies to tie the score at 17-17. But Washington suffered a major
defensive breakdown in the closing seconds, as McGaha was wide open on the
decisive scoring play.
