Description: In a surprising move, the New England Patriots scooped up Jake Ballard Wednesday just two days after he was waived by the Giants. | Insight: A classic Bill Belichick move: the Patriots essentially steal Ballard from the Giants despite having absolutely no use for him (they already have two of the best tight ends in the league). New York head coach Tom Coughlin had been hoping that the Giants would be able to re-sign Ballard later on in the offseason but now that's no longer a possibility. Ballard had a breakout season for the Giants in 2011 (604 yards, four touchdown catches) but he'll miss this season due to a torn ACL suffered ironically against the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI. | | |
