Description: According to SI's Peter King, the Houston Texans might be close to signing QB Sage Rosenfels to cure their quarterback dilemma. SOURCE: SPORTS ILLUSTRATED
Insight: Rosenfels is currently on the Miami Dolphins reserve/non-football injury list with a blood infection, but the Dolphins will release Rosenfels once he passes a physical. Then it's expected the Texans will then put in a claim for him on waivers. The only problem with that is a team with a worse record (and there's a lot of them) might swoop in and claim him before the Texans have a chance.

Description: The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports the Vikings have traded Rosenfels, along with RB/WR Darrius Reynaud, to the Giants for two future draft picks.
Insight: Rosenfels should now serve as Eli Manning's backup. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: FOX Sports' Alex Marvez reports that the Vikings have traded Sage Rosenfels to the Giants. SOURCE: Adam Caplan via Twitter
Insight: Rosenfels needed a change of scenery after being dangled the starting job, or at least a chance to compete for it, only for that opportunity to be snatched away by Brett Favre. He'll back up Eli Manning once he's up to speed.

9/2/2010 11:04:00 PM
Description: Michael Lombardi of NFL Network reports the Vikings will hang onto Rosenfels barring a "significant" trade offer.
Insight: Rosenfels will serve as the Vikings' No. 3 quarterback, but an argument could be made he should be ahead of Tarvaris Jackson if something happens to Brett Favre. (RapidDraft.com)

6/14/2010 11:18:00 AM
Description: The Minneapolis Star Tribune suggests the Vikings may try to move Rosenfels for a late-round pick during training camp.
Insight: Rosenfels got very little work during minicamp over the weekend, so the Vikings may be phasing him out of their plans. Teams looking for a veteran backup may be interested if he is available. (SportsBuff.com)

3/29/2010 12:36:00 AM
Description: National Football Post reports the Raiders and Vikings are "discussing the availability" of Rosenfels.
Insight: Rosenfels, currently the No. 3 QB for the Vikings, would likely be considered an upgrade over JaMarcus Russell or Bruce Gradkowski. (SportsBuff.com)

1/29/2010 11:30:00 AM
Description: The Associated Press reports Rosenfels said he has not thought about requesting a trade.
Insight: Rosenfels was acquired by the Vikings last offseason and signed to a contract extension, only to be inactive for every game in 2009. If Brett Favre retires and the team does not acquire another proven veteran, he could have a chance to compete for the starting job next season. (SportsBuff.com)

8/30/2009 2:01:00 PM
Description: Rosenfels is back practicing with the team after dealing with a right ankle injury.
Insight: With Brett Favre now in the fold, he'll either be battling Tarvaris Jackson for the backup role or might be on the trading block. Either way, he likely didn't anticipate either scenario when he signed with the Vikings. (SportsBuff.com)

8/26/2009 10:24:00 AM
Description: Rosenfels (right ankle) returned to practice on Tuesday. (Minneapolis Star Tribune)
Insight: Rosenfels is off the fantasy radar right now as long as Brett Favre is healthy, but as #4's top backup he would step in if Favre is injured. (SportsBuff.com)

8/17/2009 8:53:00 PM
Description: Rosenfels (ankle) did not practice Monday. (Minneaplis Star Tribune)
Insight: Rosenfels injured his right ankle in Friday's preseason opener and was able to stay in the game. He went 10-for-13 for 91 yards as he outplayed Tarvaris Jackson. (SportsBuff.com)

8/10/2009 3:40:00 PM
Description: The Vikings reportedly have not decided who will start their preseason opener on Friday against Indianapolis. (The Minneapolis Star-Tribune)
Insight: With Tarvaris Jackson having missed practice time with a knee injury and still not being 100%, Rosenfels seems like the likely choice. (SportsBuff.com)

7/28/2009 11:57:00 PM
Description: Now that Brett Favre is reportedly staying retired, but QB competition refocuses on the players actually on the roster. Many assumed Rosenfels would win this job after the team traded for him in the winter, though recent rumors have second-year man John David Booty outplaying him.
Insight: We'll get to see what's really going on in this race once training camp starts. Rosenfels was solid at times filling in as Houston's starter but also had some pretty significant turnover problems. Even if he starts, he'll be a big fantasy risk who shouldn't be chosen before the very late rounds. (SportsBuff.com)

Cold7/26/2009 12:44:00 AM
Description: SI.com's Ross Tucker reports that rumor has John David Booty outperforming Sage Rosenfels in Vikings workouts so far.
Insight: Brett Favre has to be considered the most draftable Vikings quarterback right now, and he's not even on the team yet. Steer clear of the situation otherwise. (SportsBuff.com)

Steady7/12/2009 5:29:00 PM
Description: The Vikings are proceeding with a quarterback battle between Rosenfels and Tavaris Jackson until a certain someone decides whether he wants to come back, according to the USA Today.
Insight: Oh, who are we kidding? Favre will be back and he will be the starter from Day One. Meanwhile, the summer sweat of Rosenfels will not be for naught. He may see some action after the 39-year-old QB really gets hurt. (SportsBuff.com)

3/2/2009 3:42:00 PM
Description: Rosenfels is expected to compete with Tarvaris Jackson for the starting job with the Vikings, rather than being handed the gig following his trade.
Insight: Many might assume that the Vikings picked up Rosenfels to make him the starter, but the team merely a fourth-round pick and won't be paying him a ton of money. Rosenfels put up pretty decent numbers when he got on the field in Houston, but he wasn't very good when Matt Schaub was injured last year. Meanwhile, Jackson played pretty well down the stretch for the Vikings. It'll be an interesting battle ... assuming no new guy steps in front of both players before training camp. (SportsBuff.com)

Cold11/24/2008 6:04:00 AM
Description: Rosenfels threw for 275 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Sunday's win at Cleveland. He also fumbled once, but his team recovered it.
Insight: Rosenfels continues to put up good yardage totals because his team apparently needs him to. He has also thrown nine picks in his five games, though. (SportsBuff.com)

Cold11/11/2008 10:19:00 AM
Description: Rosenfels threw for nearly 300 yards (294) and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to Baltimore, but he also tossed four interceptions.
Insight: He has been a turnover machine this year and doesn't make for an attractive fantasy starter. This week's game at Indianapolis is no exception. (SportsBuff.com)

11/3/2008 1:16:00 PM
Description: Rosenfels will reportedly take over the starting job in Houston for at least the next month. According to FoxSports.com's Jay Glazer, starter Matt Schaub tore the MCL in his left knee Sunday at Minnesota.
Insight: Rosenfels won't inspire confidence in his coaches or fantasy owners, but he did throw for 224 yards and two touchdowns in the second half on Sunday. He's an OK spot-starting option, though not a great choice this week against Baltimore. (SportsBuff.com)

11/3/2008 8:46:00 AM
Description: Rosenfels stepped in for an injured Matt Schaub in the second half against the Vikings and completed 21 of 29 passes for 224 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
Insight: Although the Texans lost, it was a decent bounceback from Rosenfels' last performance, when he gave away a late lead to the Colts. He wouldn't be a strong fantasy option in Week 10 against the Ravens, though, if Schaub is unavailable. (SportsBuff.com)

10/5/2008 11:21:00 AM
Description: Rosenfels will start in place of Matt Schaub in Week 5 as Schaub deals with a reported stomach ailment.
Insight: It's a good thing Schaub threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns last week before this, or Rosenfels might stand a pretty good chance of taking over the job for real. Still, a strong performance today could create a bit of controversy after Schaub struggled mightily in his first two outings. (SportsBuff.com)
