Description: OC Bill Muir says the Chiefs plan to give Thomas Jones the ball "until his tongue is hanging out." Source: KC Star
Insight: McCluster is expected to get 10-14 touches a game, so we'll see what kind of gas Jones has left in the tank. There's not a ton of upside in the KC offense, but he's worth a flier in deeper leagues if you're looking for an RB that's going to start.

Description: The Chiefs will retain RB Thomas Jones for his 12th season in 2011. SOURCE: KANSAS CITY STAR
Insight: We hope Todd Haley doesn't blow Jamaal Charles' fantasy value by constantly giving Jones chance after chance to show he just isn't that good anymore. Jones averaged a 3.7 yards per carry compared to Charles' 6.4.

10/31/2010 7:02:00 PM
Description: Thomas Jones had 82 all-purpose yards in the Chiefs win over the Bills in week 8.
Insight: Jones ran the ball 19 times for 77 yards and added one reception for 5 yards. It appeared as if KC was content in splitting carries evenly between Jones and Jamaal Charles, but Charles clearly had the hot hand. Jones should be a decent #2 RB consideration in week 9. (RapidDraft.com)

10/29/2010 3:04:00 PM
Description: According to the Kansas City Star, Thomas Jones needs 39 rushing yards Sunday to become the first player in NFL history to gain 500 or more rushing yards with five different teams.
Insight: It's easy to forget that Jones was headed toward first-round bust status in Arizona a decade ago. He managed to grind out 511 yards in 2002 before heading to Tampa (627 yards) for a year. Jones then topped the 1,000-yard mark multiple times in Chicago and New York. He's up to 9,678 rushing yards in his 11-year career - not to mention he's got an incredibly favorable matchup with Buffalo this weekend. (RapidDraft.com)

9/27/2010 1:02:00 AM
Description: Jones ran for 95 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries Sunday.
Insight: The Chiefs were able to do quite well on the ground against a team usually at the top of the league in run defense. Jones has carried at least 19 times in consecutive games, a workload that ups his fantasy value. (RapidDraft.com)

9/20/2010 12:03:00 AM
Description: Jones gained 83 yards on 22 carries Sunday, double the rushing workload that Jamaal Charles got in the victory. He also caught a pass.
Insight: Folks shouldn't have anticipated a big workload for Charles, but this is a surprising split considering the Chiefs were never icing the game. Jones is certainly worth a fantasy roster spot, though he's still not a strong starting candidate at this point. (RapidDraft.com)

9/19/2010 6:38:00 PM
Description: After splitting carries in Week 1, Thomas Jones doubled Jamaal Charles' carries in Week 2 despite rushing for only 3.8 yards per carry.
Insight: Jamaal Charles finished with just 11 rushes but had a 4.5 YPC average. Neither scored a touchdown, but Charlie Weis made it clear today who his favorite RB is. Though it doesn't make much sense, Jones appears to be the starter for the time being.

8/24/2010 10:05:00 PM
Description: Thomas Jones is still listed as the first-string tailback on the Chiefs' updated depth chart.
Insight: You can expect this change prior to the season. The Chiefs will not be going with the aging Jones as their main guy in the backfield. (RapidDraft.com)

8/22/2010 10:23:00 AM
Description: Thomas Jones started Saturday night's preseason game against the Bucs, rushing eight times for 29 yards and catching one pass for two yards.
Insight: Jones looked ordinary and also lost a fumble. He is almost certainly behind Jamaal Charles on the depth chart. (RapidDraft.com)

8/13/2010 9:08:00 PM
Description: Thomas Jones left Friday night's preseason opener with what the Chiefs are calling a "minor stinger." SOURCE: YAHOO! SPORTS
Insight: Jamaal Charles ripped off some big gains as a replacement. Charles should start to gain some momentum and we fully expect him to be the starter come week 1.

5/17/2010 5:47:00 PM
Description: Since 2006, Thomas Jones has carried the ball more times than anyone in the NFL
Insight: This fact, coupled with the fact that he is 32, should be red flags for his fantasy owners. Regardless of what shape he is in, the odds of Jones' value going into decline this year are very high. (SportsBuff.com)

4/13/2010 9:09:00 PM
Description: New Chiefs RB Thomas Jones says he is not overly concerned about the number of carries he'll get in Kansas City.
Insight: He says that now, but Jones still believes that, despite his age, he is a starter in this league. Look for the seeds of discontent to bloom around the midway point of the season. (sportsBuff.com)

3/27/2010 8:20:00 PM
Description: GM Scott Pioli stated that bringing Jones in was designed to provide the Chiefs with some veteran presence.
Insight: Jones certainly should be able to tutor Jamaal Charles and make him a better running back. It remains to be seen, though, what the elder statesman's fantasy role value will be. (SportsBuff.com)

3/12/2010 8:04:00 PM
Description: Profootballtalk.com reports that the Jets had an opportunity to match the contract that the Chiefs gave to Jones but declined.
Insight: To borrow a Seinfeld-ism, the Jets are bad "breaker uppers" as they have had a steady flow of disgruntled players leave them in recent years. Since they're now down to considering an over the hill LT2 as Jones' replacement, it may be safe to assume that whatever plan they had may have failed. (sportsBuff.com)

3/9/2010 10:50:00 PM
Description: The Chiefs signed Jones to a contract on Tuesday.
Insight: People need to really look here before they get too excited about this news. While he played very well last year, the odds of him continuing to do so this season at the age of 32 are long indeed and he's not going to be worth risking a high pick on. (sportsBuff.com)

3/7/2010 10:56:00 AM
Description: Jones is scheduled to meet with Kansas City on Monday.
Insight: The Chiefs make a good amount of sense as a landing spot for Jones. He is just going to have to accept that he will be a backup somewhere this season, despite his success last year. (Sportsbuff.com)

3/6/2010 12:40:00 PM
Description: Though the Jets would like to, the odds seem long on them re-signing recently released Thomas Jones to a contract.
Insight: The split was very acrimonious for Jones, who feels betrayed by the organization. It might be a legitimate gripe, but he really ought to look at his options (of which there are few) before he cuts his nose off to spite his face.

3/1/2010 9:39:00 PM
Description: The Jets announced that they will release Jones on Friday.
Insight: This move was anticipated as 32 year old running backs don't often perform at a high enough level to be considered starters. San Diego, Cleveland and Seattle are considered to be logical landing spots for him. (SportsBuff.com)

2/23/2010 9:07:00 AM
Description: The NY Daily News reports that the Jets are very likely to release Jones if they feel Leon Washington will be ready for the start of the regular season.
Insight: Jones is owed $5.9 million in 2010 if he is still on the team. (SportsBuff.com)

1/29/2010 8:46:00 AM
Description: The NY Daily News reports that the Jets would like to bring Thomas Jones back but it all comes down to money.
Insight: Jones is due a $2.8 million roster bonus in March and could be asked to take a paycut to return to the Jets. (SportsBuff.com)
