Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles (ankle) returned to practice on Thursday in limited fashion and was limited again on Friday.
Insight: Although this is good news, that he's out there at all, there is still a reasonable chance that Charles will not play this week against the Dolphins. Charles owners should make a plan B as he's 50-50 at best..

Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles (ankle) returned to practice on Thursday according to Adam Teicher of ESPN.
Insight: Charles participated in warmups, spent some time with the team trainer and then joined the position drills. Charles was even "cutting through cones." That would suggest that Charles does not have a high-ankle sprain at all. Although this is good news, there is still a reasonable chance that Charles will not play this week against the Dolphins. Charles owners should make a plan B.

Description: Kansas City star RB Jamaal Charles has the dreaded "high ankle sprain, according to Lindsay Jones of USA Today.
Insight: High ankle sprains can vary, but fantasy owners should realistically figure 2-3 weeks. The Chiefs have a solid backup in Knile Davis who rushed 22 times for 79 yards and a pair of scores as Charles' replacement on Sunday and will carry the workload while Charles is sidelined.

Description: The Broncos defense expects Jamaal Charles to get "a lot of touches this week," according to denverbroncos.com
Insight: One would hope as Charles only touched the ball 11 times in Week 1. Chiefs coach Andy Reid admitted this week that was a mistake. The Denver defense looks better than last year but Charles is still a clear RB1 for Week 2.

9/8/2014 2:14:00 PM
Description: On Monday, head coach Andy Reid admitted it was "negligence" to only give running back Jamaal Charles 11 touches in the Week 1 loss to the Titans.
Insight: It was nice to see a head coach take blame for something, especially in public, but it is still worrisome that feeding Charles the ball would not be Reid's No. 1 priority every week. Hopefully the mistake is corrected in Week 2, but with the Chiefs going to Denver, it might be hard to keep the game close enough to let Kansas City use Charles and the running game enough to satisfy fantasy owners.

Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles returned to Chiefs practice on Thursday.

Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles is dealing with a bruised foot, according to ESPN.com. He suffered the injury while moving out of the players' dorm at Missouri Western State University.
Insight: "He came down a grassy slope there and just kind of rolled his foot over on the curb," coach Andy Reid said. "We're optimistic about it. Initially there was some concern. He had all the stuff done on it, the X-rays, the MRIs and all that done on it. Everything is clear." Charles sat out the second preseason game and he may miss the third as well, but he should be fine for Week 1.

Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles didn't play Sunday night and may not play next week either.
Insight: It's just the Chiefs being very protective of their best (read only) offensive weapon. Charles rushed for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns on 259 carries and added 70 receptions for 693 yards and seven scores in 15 games last season. He is the total package for fantasy owners and is a option for the No. 1 overall pick.

He's scheduled to make just $3.9 million this season and $6 million in 2015. His holdout shouldn't last long, as Kansas City seems to be open to giving him a new contract.

1/4/2014 6:30:00 PM
Description: Kansas City will be without star running back Jamaal Charles for the rest of Saturday's game against Indianapolis.
Insight: He's been ruled out with a concussion. It's concerning for the Chiefs' overall playoff outlook but today Charles' absence hasn't affected Kansas City in the slightest. Backup Knile Davis already has two touchdowns on 18 touches and the Chiefs are up 38-10 with about a quarter and a half to go. For now, consider Charles day-to-day.

1/4/2014 4:45:00 PM
Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles went to the locker room early in the first quarter during Saturday's playoff game at Indianapolis to be checked for a concussion.
Insight: Charles carried three times for 18 yards on the first drive but was shaken up on the third carry. He was examined on the sideline and then taken to the locker room. Knile Davis, who had 81 yards and two scores on 27 carries with Charles resting in Week 17, will fill in at running back. Charles is Kansas City's most important player and would be a huge loss if he cannot return.

Description: With Kansas City's playoff fate already decided (they're locked in as the No. 5 seed in the AFC), the Chiefs will sit star running back Jamaal Charles in Week 17. SOURCE: Jay Glazer, Fox Sports
Insight: With nothing to gain from winning and no bye after Week 17, resting Jamaal Charles and Alex Smith is probably in Kansas City's best interest. Knile Davis should get the start at halfback.

Description: With Kansas City's playoff fate already decided (they're locked in as the No. 5 seed in the AFC), the Chiefs could look to rest their starters in Week 17. SOURCE: Terez Paylor, Kansas City Star
Insight: With nothing to gain from winning and no bye after Week 17, resting Jamaal Charles and Alex Smith would probably be in Kansas City's best interest. For the first time all season, neither player will be a recommended fantasy option in Week 17. Knile Davis would get the start at halfback if Charles sits this one out. Chase Daniel would be the quarterback if Smith takes a breather in Week 17.

Description: Kansas City halfback Jamaal Charles only had 20 rushing yards on eight carries Sunday at Oakland and yet he still turned in 51 fantasy points in standard scoring leagues.
Insight: That's because Charles had eight catches for 195 yards, four receiving scores and one rushing TD. The running back already was the highest scoring non-QB coming into the game, and this mammoth effort should put him into the top-five overall.
