Final Score: Chicago 17, St. Louis 9

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Jay Cutler threw for 143 yards and a score, as the Chicago Bears snapped a four-game slide with a 17-9 victory over the St. Louis Rams at Soldier Field.

Cutler completed 8-of-17 passes and did not have an interception -- only the third game this season in which he has not had at least one pick. Matt Forte ran for 91 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries for Chicago (5-7), which had not won since November 1 against Cleveland.

It is just the second win in the last eight games for the Bears.

"It was good to get a W," Cutler said. "It feels like it's been a long time. It wasn't the prettiest game but we pulled it out. Defensively, I thought we did a great job."

Steven Jackson ran for 112 yards for the Rams (1-11), who have dropped their last four since beating Detroit on November 1. Kyle Boller was 17-of-32 with 113 yards and an interception, as St. Louis was stopped on a potential game- tying drive in the final minutes.

Josh Brown kicked three field goals in the setback.

"It's extremely frustrating," Boller said. "You get field position like that, you've got to capitalize and you've got to score touchdowns. It's not a secret in this league you have to score to win and field goals aren't going to cut it."

Forte fumbled away the ball on the opening drive of the game, but after a Rams punt, the Bears got on the board. They started at their own 15-yard line and picked up 48 yards on a deep pass to Devin Hester, who later left the game with a calf injury.

Forte eventually plowed into the end zone from one yard out, making it 7-0 just over five minutes in.

On its next possession, Chicago picked up 71 yards on a pass to Earl Bennett. Cutler's 11-yard pass to Johnny Knox on the next play got the ball inside the 10, but the drive stalled there, and Robbie Gould kicked a 27-yard field goal for a 10-point lead.

But the Bears' offense didn't pick up a first down for the remainder of the half, and late in the second quarter, the Rams had a 1st-and-goal at the five. The Chicago defense held, however, and Brown's 20-yarder made it a 10-3 game at the break.

Brown's 48-yard kick with 8:50 left in the third quarter got St. Louis within four, but Chicago responded with a long scoring drive. Most of the yardage was picked up on the ground, as Cutler completed just two passes. The second one came on third down from the three, as Cutler found Bennett for a touchdown to make it 17-6.

Brown connected from 50 yards out with a little more than 10 minutes remaining in the game, and the Rams had three more possessions. But they punted on the first and had the second end when Boller was intercepted by Hunter Hillenmeyer.

After forcing the Bears to punt, St. Louis got one last chance and reached the Chicago 41 with 34 seconds left. But Boller spiked the ball to stop the clock, then was pressured and threw incomplete three times as the Bears held on for the win.
