Description: Don't be surprised if IF Jayson Nix finds his way into the starting lineup against Oakland left-hander Jon Lester.
Insight: The utility infielder has done nothing all season, batting just 120 between Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and the Royals, but he's a career .308 hitter (8-for-26) with three home runs in their matchups.
8/14/2014 10:41:00 AM
Description: You weren't going to start the .149 hitting Jayson Nix anyway, but it's interesting to note that he's a career 0-for-11 with nine strikeouts against Detroit right-hander Max Scherzer.
Insight: That's not seeing the ball well. In the league seven seasons, the utility infielder has never batted above .243, and has zero fantasy value.
3/29/2014 10:51:00 AM
Description: Tampa Bay traded Jayson Nix to Philadelphia Friday for cash considerations.
Insight: Nix hit .270 for the Rays in 37 spring training at bats. He gives the Phils a solid backup option in case Chase Utley or Jimmy Rollins gets hurt this season.

Description: New York manager Joe Girardi believes Jayson Nix, who suffered a broken hand on Wednesday, will miss the rest of the season. SOURCE: ESPN
Insight: The Yankees placed him on the 15-day disabled list earlier today. Nix was having a good month (.304 AVG in August) but he's only hitting .236 for the season. Eduardo Nunez will get most of the reps at shortstop while Nix and Derek Jeter are out.
8/21/2013 8:17:00 PM
Description: Yankees infielder Jayson Nix suffered a fractured left hand Wednesday against the Blue Jays when he was hit by a pitch.
Insight: Due to injuries to shortstop Derek Jeter and third baseman Alex Rodriguez, Nix has taken 267 at-bats this season and hit .236 with a .619 OPS.

Description: Yankees infielder Jayson Nix, out since the beginning of the month with a strained hamstring, is slated to return Tuesday against the Dodgers. SOURCE: Sweeny Murti, WFAN
Insight: Now that Derek Jeter is back in the lineup, we're not sure what Nix's role will be. Third base seems like a logical spot for Nix now that Alex Rodriguez's rehab is being delayed. Nix has played every infield position this season except for first base. Last year he even got a few starts in left field, though that position will likely be occupied by Alfonso Soriano for the forseeable future.
Cold4/6/2013 10:28:00 AM
Description: With Derek Jeter and Eduardo Nunez sidelined, the Yankees will likely start Jayson Nix at shortstop on Saturday, but he's got a horrible history versus Tigers starter Max Scherzer and should not be in any fantasy lineups.
Insight: Nix has gone 0-for-9 against Scherzer with seven strikeouts. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
10/16/2012 9:56:00 AM
Description: New York's new starting shortstop, Jayson Nix, is 1-for-11 (.091) against Tigers ace Justin Verlander.
Insight: Nix went 0-for-3 in his first start as a replacement for Derek Jeter on Sunday and the news doesn't figure to get better with a matchup against Verlander on the horizon.
10/14/2012 9:53:00 AM
Description: ESPN's Buster Olney reports that Jayson Nix will take over as New York's starting shortstop following the announcement that Derek Jeter will miss the rest of the postseason with a broken ankle.
Insight: Infielder Eduardo Nunez will take Jeter's roster spot but Nix will still receive the majority of the playing time at short for the Yankees, who trail Detroit 1-0 in the best of seven American League Championship Series. Nix went 2-for-4 with a double in two games against Baltimore during the ALDS.

Description: If they can't work out a trade for him, the Indians will designate IF Jayson Nix for assignment. SOURCE: Paul Hoynes via Twitter
Insight: Nix's injury limited his value to begin with and now there is no reason to own him on your roster.
11/11/2010 2:00:00 AM
Description: reports the Indians are considering using Nix at third base next season.
Insight: Nix made 11 errors at third base in 40 games there this past season, so he needs some work even if he's not a long-term option at the hot corner. (
9/24/2010 11:01:00 PM
Description: Nix went 2-for-4 with two home runs and two RBI against the Royals on Friday night.
Insight: Nix is hitting .229 with 14 home runs and 32 RBI this season. (
7/29/2010 5:56:00 PM
Description: Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports, via Twitter, that Indians' manager Manny Acta said Nix will be the team's starting third baseman for the foreseeable future.
Insight: Wednesday's trade of Jhonny Peralta opens up the spot at 3B for the Indians. Nix is hitting just .224 in 143 at-bat this season, and is not a fantasy option. (
7/8/2010 1:02:00 AM
Description: Nix went 1-for-3 with a home run against Texas on Wednesday night.
Insight: Nix has hit three home runs in three games this week, but with a .233 average along with six home runs and 13 RBI he is not a fantasy option. (
7/6/2010 10:32:00 AM
Description: Nix went 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI against the Rangers on Monday night.
Insight: Nix is hitting just .214 with four home runs and 11 RBI this season, so he is not a fantasy option. (
6/24/2010 3:38:00 PM
Description: The Indians have claimed Nix off waivers from the White Sox.
Insight: Nix was designated for assignment by the White Sox last week after hitting just .163 over 49 at-bats for them this season. He is not a fantasy option at all. (
6/2/2010 11:13:00 AM
Description: The Chicago Tribune reports Nix should see time at third base with Mark Teahen (finger) out.
Insight: Omar Vizquel and Brent Lillibridge should also see time at the hot corner, which renders all three virtually useless in any fantasy format. (
4/14/2010 10:14:00 AM
Description: The Chicago Sun Times reports Nix could get his first start of the season on Wednesday.
Insight: Nix would likely replace Mark Teahen at third base or Alexei Ramirez at shortstop if he indeed gets the starting nod. (
8/26/2009 1:52:00 AM
Description: Nix went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a run scored against Boston on Tuesday.

7/3/2009 9:34:00 AM
Description: Nix went 2-for-4 with a home run, RBI and a run scored in the White Sox' win over the Royals on Thursday.
Insight: Nix is now 5-for-13 over his last three games with three doubles and a home run over that span. (
