Description: Boston has recalled catcher Ryan Lavarnway from Triple-A Pawtucket. He'll get the start at catcher Thursday as the Red Sox open their series against the Twins.
Insight: Lavarnway hit .231 with a couple of homers and eight RBIs in a 17-game stint in the majors last season. He could figure to see a good amount of playing time at Fenway in the future but we're not expecting the 24-year-old to stay in the majors for very long this time around.
