Cabrera also launched a two-run blast, Ryan Goins went 4-for-5 with four RBI and scored a run and Munenori Kawasaki posted two hits, two RBI and three runs scored for the Blue Jays, who have won eight of their last 10 games. R.A. Dickey (9-10) struck out 10 and allowed a run on three hits and a walk over seven innings to notch the win. Clay Buchholz (5-7) surrendered seven runs on seven hits and four walks over five-plus frames for Boston, which has dropped six of its last seven games.

St. Petersburg, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Jake Odorizzi tossed seven solid innings and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 2-1, in the opener of a three-game series. Odorizzi (7-8) gave up one run on three hits while striking out five for the Rays, who are 10-1 since July 12. The right- hander has won three straight starts and is 5-1 in his past six decisions. James Loney hit a two-run single in the sixth for Tampa Bay. Mark Reynolds hit a solo homer for the Brewers, who saw starter Kyle Lohse (11-5) give up two runs on four hits over six innings. Lohse, who had won back-to-back starts, struck out six and walked three.

Arencibia hit a go-ahead two-run single as part of a four-run fifth inning and the Texas Rangers defeated the New York Yankees, 4-2, in the opener of a three-game set. Yu Darvish (10-6) struck out eight and allowed two runs on nine hits and a walk over seven innings for Texas, which had dropped eight of its last 10 games coming in. Neftali Feliz fired a 1-2-3 ninth to earn his second save of the season. Derek Jeter had three hits and moved past Carl Yastrzemski for seventh place on the all-time hits list. Jeter, who shot a single through the hole on the right side to climb past Yastrzemski in the seventh, has 3,420 hits in his illustrious career. Brett Gardner hit a pair of solo home runs to account for New York's runs. David Phelps (5-5) surrendered four runs on eight hits and a walk over six frames for the Yankees, who have lost three in a row on the heels of a 7-1 stretch.

Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Jason Castro and Marc Krauss hit back-to- back home runs during a four-run sixth and the Houston Astros took down the Oakland Athletics on Monday, 7-3, in the opener of a three-game set. Castro's two-run blast to right-center against Jesse Chavez broke a 3-3 tie and gave the Astros the lead for good. Krauss followed with a solo shot and following a pitching change, Matt Dominguez hit the third home run of the inning to make it 7-3. Chris Carter had a three-run homer earlier for the Astros, who snapped a five-game losing skid with the triumph and beat Oakland for just the fourth time this season in 11 meetings. Chavez (8-7) was charged with six runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings of work, while his counterpart Brett Oberholtzer (3-7) made a little history en route to his first win since May 30. Oberholtzer became the first lefty starter in Houston franchise history to beat Oakland in 36 games.
