GAMES NOTES: The Marist Red Foxes and the Morgan State Bears will finish off their time in the Paradise Jam by battling for seventh place at the Sports and Fitness Center.

It has been a long road for Marist through its first six games. The Red Foxes have played just a single contest at home and have yet to post a victory. Marist lost to Loyola Marymount (76-70) on Saturday after dropping the tournament opener against Maryland (68-43).

The year has been just as bad for Morgan State, which is also entering play on Sunday with six losses and not a single victory. Morgan State has fallen to this round of the Paradise Jam with consecutive losses against La Salle (78-59) and Vanderbilt (75-66).

Monday's matchup will be the first ever between these two programs.

Marist shot below a 40 percent rate from the field in both halves in its loss against Loyola Marymount. The Red Foxes allowed the Lions to connect on 59.3 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes, as they surrendered a contest in which they led by as many as 13 points.

If there was any positive to be taken from the loss against the Lions it was that Marist was able to keep things close. On the year the Red Foxes have been routed on most occasions with a scoring differential of -23. The issues have come on the offensive end of the floor where the Red Foxes are scoring only 54.3 points per game on 33 percent shooting from the field. Chavaughn Lewis (15.3 ppg) is the only player scoring in double figures, as well as the only player averaging more than 30 minutes per game. Khallid Hart (9.2 ppg) and Jay Bowie (8.2 ppg) are the next best scoring options.

Even though they managed to tie the game twice, the Bears never led against Vanderbilt. Morgan State trailed from wire-to-wire with their largest deficit at 17 points. Morgan State was really beaten up inside, allowing the Commodores to score 42 points in the paint.

By netting only 62.2 points per game and shooting below 40 percent from the floor, the Bears have also endured a number of blowout losses. The Bears are being outscored by an average of 16.1 points per game. Morgan State really has trouble when trying to get shots to fall from beyond the arc, with just 24.3 percent of their attempts from 3-point range finding their way into the bottom of the net. Justin Black (16.3 ppg) is the only scorer on the team capable of carrying the offense. Black has shown no fear when it comes to letting it fly from beyond the arc, but he has made good on only 10-of-36 attempts from 3- point range. Black finished with a game-high 18 points and five assists against Vanderbilt.

Something has to give on Sunday as one of these teams will walk away with the victory. The most important duel will be between Lewis and Black and in that matchup the Red Foxes have the slight edge.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Marist 65, Morgan State 61
