Berkeley, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Cobbs netted 22 points and dished out seven assists as the California Golden Bears coasted by the USC Trojans, 77-64, in a Pac-12 Conference clash at Haas Pavilion.
Ricky Kreklow tallied 12 points for California (18-9, 9-5 Pac-12), while both Tyrone Wallace and Jabari Bird scored 10 points in the win. David Kravish recorded a team-high 10 rebounds and five blocked shots, narrowly missing out on a double-double with nine points. The Golden Bears have been victorious in three of their past four contests.
Pe'Shon Howard notched 17 points for USC (10-17, 1-13), while Nikola Jovanovic and J.T. Terrell each added 14 points. Julian Jacobs chipped in 10 points and six rebounds in the loss, which was the eighth in a row for the Trojans, who last won a game at home against California on Jan. 22.
USC shot 37.9 percent from the floor in the first half, and took a 30-27 lead into the intermission. California connected on 36.7 percent of its field goal tries in the frame, including 2-of-6 from 3-point range.
The Golden Bears came roaring out of the gates in the second half, though, netting 60 percent of their shot attempts and burying 11-of-14 from the free- throw line. The Trojans shot an even 50 percent in the period, but lost their three-point lead and then some in a 16-point second-half swing.
California had the edge in points off turnovers, 18-11, and won the battle in bench points, 19-6.
