Tallahassee, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Ian Miller came off the bench and made every one of his shot attempts, tallying 20 points and five assists for the Florida State Seminoles, who cruised past the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks, 89-61, at the Tucker Center.
Miller sank 5-of-5 from the field, including 3-of-3 from 3-point range, and also hit 7-of-7 at the free-throw line for the Seminoles (3-0). Aaron Thomas notched 19 points, including 8-of-9 free throw attempts. Okaro White added 17 points and Devon Bookert tallied 13.
Myles Taylor led the Skyhawks (1-4) with 17 points, sinking all seven attempts at the charity stripe. Javier Martinez (13 points) and Justin Childs (10) were the team's other double-digit scorers.
The 'Noles came out of the gate firing, shooting 53.6 percent from the field in the first half, en route to a comfortable 41-23 lead at the break. The Skyhawks struggled mightily from the field, shooting only 30.3 percent in the opening 20 minutes.
FSU only got hotter in the second half, shooting an impressive 66.7 percent. While UT Martin's accuracy did improve slightly, it gave the Seminoles 31 chances at the free-throw line, from which the hosts converted 24 points.
The game was largely decided in the paint, where the Seminoles secured more rebounds (36-33) and scored 40 of their points to the Skyhawks' 28. FSU also got the majority of its points (46) from its bench.
