Flagstaff, AZ (Sports Network) - Troy Huff erupted for a season-high 26 points, including the game-winning layup with three seconds remaining, as North Dakota defeated the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks, 81-79, in a Big Sky Conference clash at the Walkup Skydome.
Huff shot 11-of-18 from the field, while Aaron Anderson dished out a career- high 10 assists for North Dakota (8-12, 5-5 Big Sky). Josh Schuler and Mitch Wilmer added 13 and 10 points, respectively.
NAU (7-12, 4-6) lost despite a career-high 35 points from Gabe Rogers, who hit 13-of-23 from the floor and 4-of-8 from 3-point range. Gaellan Bewernick was perfect from the floor in five attempts as he finished with 11 points.
NAU came out scorching from behind the arc, making 6-of-7 3-point tries in the first half. They shot 62.5 percent overall in the opening period and led 47-36 at halftime.
North Dakota opened the second half on an 18-4 run and eventually stretched its lead to 68-57 midway through the period before the Lumberjacks battled back. Rogers was huge down the stretch, making two free throws with 2:04 remaining to tie the score at 76-76. With the game tied, 79-79, in the waning seconds, Huff collected an offensive rebound and converted the game-winning layup.
North Dakota won the rebounding battle, 29-26.
