                === Manning leads AFC's Players of the Month ===
 New  York, NY ( - Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning,
 Indianapolis  Colts  linebacker Robert  Mathis  and  Kansas City  Chiefs  punt
 returner Dexter McCluster were named AFC Players of the Month for December.
 Manning completed 67.8 percent of his passes for 1,755 yards and 19 touchdowns
 with  three interceptions.  He had  a passer  rating of  116.5 and  helped the
 Broncos to a 4-1 record in the month.
 The  16-year veteran led the Broncos to the No. 1 seed in the AFC while he set
 new records for touchdown passes (55) and passing yards (5,477) in a season.
 Mathis, the Defensive Player of the Month, had 17 tackles, five sacks and four
 forced  fumbles  as the  Colts went 4-1  in the month.  He became the all-time
 leader  in career  sacks for Indianapolis with  108 and led the league with 19
 1/2 to take home the first ever Deacon Jones Award, given to the sack leader.
 McCluster,  the  Special Teams Player of  the Month, returned 12 punts for 232
 yards and a touchdown. He ranked first in the AFC and second in the NFL with a
 19.3 punt return average in the month.
