Description: After visiting with several teams, TE Fred Davis has decided to re-sign with the Redskins for one year.
Insight: Davis only played seven games last season due to a torn Achilles and saw a decline in production when he was active. Even though No. 1 receiver Pierre Garcon was injured early in the season, Davis was not heavily targeted by Robert Griffin III.

8/14/2012 9:40:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Fred Davis reportedly hasn't been a "favored target" of rookie QB Robert Griffin III in training camp, according to the Washington Examiner. CSNWashington corroborated that, saying "It's time to say that Davis isn't having a great camp for someone who is supposed to have a breakout season."
Insight: Davis emerged as a mid-tier tight end in 2011, catching 59 passes for 796 yards and three scores in 12 games before being suspended for the final four games of the season after failing multiple drug tests. Davis is playing for a new contract this season, but he hasn't gotten off to a good start. We'll have to see if Davis and Griffin jell in the final three exhibition games.

Insight: Davis was pretty productive when he had to step in for Chris Cooley (right ankle) this season, and finished the season with 48 catches for 509 yards and six touchdowns. He will almost certainly have a fairly significant role in the Redskins' offense next season, no matter who is on the coaching staff. (SportsBuff.com)
