Santa Barbara, CA (Sports Network) - Konner Veteto connected on the game- winning layup with five seconds remaining to cap off a 12-point second-half comeback by the Sacramento State Hornets, as they knocked off the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, 51-50, in BracketBusters action at The Thunderdome.

For UCSB (8-18), which has lost three straight and eight of nine, Taran Brown led all scorers with 18 points. Alan Williams shot just 3-of-14 from the floor for eight points but managed 11 rebounds and five blocks, while T.J. Taylor tallied nine points and six assists.

UCSB shot a mere 38.5 percent from the floor in the first half, but it held Sacramento State to a woeful 5-of-25 from the field (.200) as it took a 29-21 lead into intermission.

The Gauchos continued to lead early in the second half and held a 40-28 advantage with 12:20 remaining before the Hornets came storming back. Sacramento State took a 47-45 lead with 1:34 left on a Dickson 3-pointer. After the teams traded field goals, UCSB regained the advantage, 50-49, on a Brown 3-pointer with 17 seconds to go, but the Hornets answered with Veteto's game-winner on the ensuing possession.
