Lightning's Bishop leaves game after collision
Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop left Thursday's game against the Ottawa Senators after colliding with a teammate.
Bishop dove to his left in an attempt to knock the puck away from Ottawa's Mike Zibanejad, but Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov, who was trailing on the play, failed to jump over Bishop. Kucherov's knee hit the back of Bishop's head.
With Bishop injured on the ice, Ottawa defenseman Marc Methot scored at the 1:49 mark of the first period.
Bishop, who entered the game with a 26-7-4 record and 1.99 goals-against average, was replaced by Anders Lindback.
The 27-year-old University of Maine product was making his first appearance in Ottawa since he was traded to Tampa by the Senators on April 3, 2013, for Cory Conacher and a fourth-round draft pick.
