Bills make it official with Kolb

Orchard Park, NY (Sports Network) - The Buffalo Bills made it official Monday and signed free agent quarterback Kevin Kolb.

Terms were not disclosed, but the Buffalo News last month reported it to be a two-year deal with a maximum value of about $13 million.

Kolb is expected to compete with Tarvaris Jackson, who signed a one-year deal with the club last month, for the starting job after last year's starter, Ryan Fitzpatrick, was released.

"We wanted to add some veteran experience to the quarterback position on our roster and we think we've added a good one by signing Kevin," said Bills general manager Buddy Nix. "He's a player we had targeted since he became a free agent and he should be a strong candidate in the competition for the starting quarterback position."

Kolb led the Arizona Cardinals to a 4-0 start last season, but was knocked out for the rest of the season in a Week 6 game against Buffalo as he suffered detached ribs and a sprained shoulder. He also missed a total of five games in 2011 and 2010 with separate concussions.

Over six seasons in the NFL, the second-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2007 has completed 59.5 percent of his pass attempts for 5,206 yards along with 28 touchdowns and 25 interceptions in 34 games with the Eagles and Cardinals.
