NBA Game Summary - Indiana at Brooklyn

(Saturday, November 9th)

Final Score: Indiana 96, Brooklyn 91

Brooklyn, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Paul George poured in a game-high 24 points to lead the Indiana Pacers past the Brooklyn Nets, 96-91, at Barclays Center.

David West added 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while Roy Hibbert and Lance Stephenson finished with 15 points apiece for the Pacers, who have won a franchise-best seven straight games to open the season.

The Pacers started the 1970-71 season 6-0 when the franchise was still in the ABA.

"We are not doing anything outside of being ourselves and we are trusting our preparation. We have a group of guys who study hard," said West.

Deron Williams had 17 points and 10 assists and Joe Johnson poured in 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting for the Nets.

Hibbert's slam with 4:56 remaining put the Pacers up 90-80, but the Nets quickly scored seven straight to pull within three points with just over 3 1/2 minutes remaining.

Indiana pushed its lead back to seven points as Hill made two free throws and George nailed a 15-footer for a 94-87 Pacers lead.

After a Brook Lopez layup, Hibbert missed a hook shot and the Nets raced up court. Williams split a pair of defenders at the top of the key before pulling up for a jumper that made it 94-91 with 1:33 left.

George Hill couldn't get a close jumper to go, but West and George trapped Williams in the corner at the other end before coming up with a steal. Hibbert, though, was called for an illegal screen on the ensuing possession.

The Nets took over with just under a minute left and worked the clock down before Williams dished it to Kevin Garnett under the basket, but the veteran forward misfired from point-blank range.

Garnett made up for it on the other end, picking off George's pass and Brooklyn called a timeout with 16.5 seconds left.

Out of the timeout, Johnson fired a trey from the left wing, but couldn't get it to fall and West knocked down a pair of free throws to seal the win.

"We took care of the ball pretty well until the fourth quarter," said Brooklyn head coach Jason Kidd.

The Nets committed six of their 15 turnovers over the final 12 minutes.

Indiana led 23-21 after the first quarter, but was outscored 25-21 in the second to go into the break trailing 46-44.

The Pacers stretched their lead to nine in the third and took a 72-67 edge into the final frame.
