Final Score: Philadelphia 98, New York 90
Syracuse, NY (Sports Network) - Jason Richardson scored 23 points and was 6- of-12 from 3-point range for Philadelphia, as the 76ers downed the New York Knicks, 98-90, in a preseason game on Monday night.
Thaddeus Young contributed 22 points on 10-of-12 shooting, while Royal Ivey and Damien Wilkins each poured in 12 for Philadelphia, which won its sixth and final contest of the preseason. Lavoy Allen pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds and scored eight points in the victory.
Returning to the campus of Syracuse, where he won a national championship for the Orange in 2003, Carmelo Anthony finished with 23 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Knicks, who lost their third straight game. Raymond Felton added 23 points while Chris Copeland dropped in 15 off the bench.
Richardson scored 14 of his points in the first half, helping to build an 18- point halftime lead for the 76ers, who shot 59.5 percent from the field compared to the Knicks' woeful 35 percent through the first two quarters.
However, the Knicks reduced the 76ers' lead to single-digits on a three by Jason Kidd and Anthony drained a 3-pointer with less than a minute remaining in the third to bring the Knicks within four.
Kurt Thomas' bucket in the fourth cut the defecit to 81-79, but the Knicks did not get any closer, as the 76ers finished the game on a 17-9 run to account for the final margin.
