Description: Rowland-Smith has decided to skip the World Baseball Championships rather than pitch for his native Australia, according to the AP.
Insight: Rowland-Smith started 12 games for the Mariners last year and had a decent 3.50 ERA. Although he was a nice strikeout pitcher out of the bullpen (39 K's in 46.1 innings), he only struck out 38 batters in 72 starting innings. He's a low grade AL-only starter. (SportsBuff.com)
