Description: Athletics lefty Tommy Milone has a good chance of beginning the season in the rotation following injuries to Jarrod Parker and A.J. Griffin.
Insight: Milone had an unspectacular 3.92 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 263 strikeouts in 346 1/3 innings the last two seasons.

8/28/2013 8:54:00 PM
Description: The Athletics sent lefthander Tommy Milone down to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.
Insight: They did it to make room on the roster for Brett Anderson. He'll be back up when the rosters expand to 40 at the start of September.

Hot6/8/2013 8:18:00 PM
Description: A's lefty Tommy Milone pitched seven strong innings Saturday in a loss to the White Sox.
Insight: The game was tied 1-1 when Milone (7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K's) left so he had to settle for the no-decision. Over his last two appearances, Milone (6-5, 3.69 ERA) has a 1.93 ERA with 11 strikeouts and just one walk.

5/7/2013 9:42:00 PM
Description: Athletics starter Tommy Milone has lost four straight starts despite pitching to a 2.63 ERA in that span.
Insight: Milone (3-4, 3.13 ERA, 1.11 WHIP) struck out five and walked none over seven innings Tuesday against the Indians, but allowed one unearned run on five hits in a 1-0 loss. The left-hander has walked just six batters in 46 innings.

8/22/2012 9:48:00 PM
Description: Athletics starter Tommy Milone turned in his best outing in more than a month Wednesday against the Twins. Milone held Minnesota to one run on just two hits in eight innings (1 BB, 5 K).
Insight: Milone (10-9, 3.87) came in having allowed 20 runs over his last 23 innings but he was having a nice season before that stretch and was sharp Wednesday. Give him a few more starts.

7/26/2012 10:05:00 PM
Description: A's lefty Tommy Milone entered Thursday with the third-lowest ERA in the American League for the month of July but he was roughed up by the Blue Jays as Oakland fell 10-4 in the series finale.
Insight: It wasn't all bad for Milone (9-7, 3.51 ERA), who struck out seven hitters in seven innings without walking a batter. The five earned runs were the most Milone has given up since June 13 when he let up eight in a 10-8 victory over Colorado.

6/21/2012 10:35:00 AM
Description: Oakland lefthander Tommy Milone kept the Dodgers in check for his first win since May 21st Wednesday night at the Oakland Coliseum. He allowed three hits and just one run over nine innings of work.
Insight: This was Milone's first major league complete game. Wednesday's effort was a drastic improvement over how Milone pitched in his last outing June 13th against Colorado (4 IP, 7 H, 8 ER, 4 BBs).

6/7/2012 10:58:00 PM
Description: As good as Oakland starter Tommy Milone (6-5, 3.53 ERA, 1.15 WHIP) has been this season, stay away from him Friday at Arizona. Milone has gone 2-4 with a 6.23 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in six road starts.
Insight: Feel free to use Milone whenever he starts at home, where he is 4-1 with an ERA of 0.98 and a WHIP of 0.85 in five starts, but tomorrow would not be the day to utilize the Oakland Athletics lefty.

6/3/2012 10:07:00 PM
Description: Athletics starter Tommy Milone dropped to 6-5 despite holding Kansas City to two runs on eight hits in seven innings. Milone walked one and struck out six but former Athletics starter Vin Mazzaro shut Oakland out.
Insight: Milone was one of the pitchers whom Oakland acquired from Washington for Gio Gonzalez. The A's have had a revolving door of successful starters in the past 10 years who get shipped off for more prospects as soon as they become more expensive. Milone has continued that trend with his 3.53 ERA and 1.13 WHIP this season.

4/30/2012 10:51:00 PM
Description: Tommy Milone was bombed by Boston on Monday, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings.
Insight: Don't give up on Milone based on one poor start. He was excellent in his other starts this season, going 3-1 with a 2.00 ERA before Monday's shelling.

4/18/2012 2:39:00 PM
Description: The best starting pitcher on the Oakland A's staff so far this season is 25-year-old Tom Milone. He's 1-1 with an ERA of 2.57 and a 0.857 WHIP.
Insight: The young lefthander looked great against Kansas City in his first outing (8.0 IP, 0 ER), but stumbled against Seattle giving up four runs in six innings. He looks like the real deal, but wins will be hard to come by with the inferior A's offense behind him.
