Description: Giants outfielder Tyler Colvin isn't an everyday player, but if he's in the lineup against Reds right-hander Mike Leake you should start him.
Insight: Colvin is 7-for-19 (.368) with four of the seven hits being home runs against Leake. The wind is blowing out to center at AT&T Park.

Description: Giants outfielder Tyler Colvin isn't an everyday player, but if he's in the lineup against Reds right-hander Mike Leake you have to seriously consider him. Update: Colvin is batting sixth and playing left field.
Insight: Colvin is 6-for-17 (.353) with four of the six hits being home runs against Leake. Colvin has gone to the plate just 50 times this season, but owns an .835 OPS.

Description: The Giants have agreed to a minor league deal with outfielder Tyler Colvin. SOURCE: Alex Pavlovic, Bay Area News Group
Insight: Colvin signed with the Orioles in January but the team pulled out of the deal due to concerns about his back. Baltimore did the same thing after signing Grant Balfour. Both players found another team who thought they were healthy enough to sign, as Balfour inked a deal with Tampa Bay and Colvin with San Francisco. If Colvin makes the team, he will serve as a fifth outfielder and won't have fantasy value.

Description: The Orioles and outfielder Tyler Colvin came to an agreement on a new contract last week but now the team is claiming there's an issue with Colvin's physical. SOURCE: Jerry Crasnick, ESPN
Insight: It's the second time this offseason that Baltimore has agreed to a deal and then backed out because of a failed physical. We're still not sure what the issue may have been. The Orioles could revisit the deal later this offseason or they could cut the cord completely like they did with Grant Balfour a few weeks ago. For what it's worth, Colvin hit .160 last year with three homers in 27 games.

6/21/2013 2:08:00 PM
Description: Rockies outfielder Tyler Colvin is likely confident about his ability to hit Washington ace Stephen Strasburg as he's faced him three times and owns a pair of home runs and a single.
Insight: Obviously a tiny sample size, but at least he knows he can hit Strasburg which not many can say. He'll likely get a start if Dexter Fowler's hand is still not healed.

3/29/2013 8:48:00 PM
Description: The Rockies have optioned outfielder Tyler Colvin to Triple-A.
Insight: Colvin hit .290 with 18 homers, 72 RBIs and an .858 OPS last season but struggled this spring and wasn't going to have a spot in the everyday lineup with first base and both corner outfield spots filled.

9/29/2012 8:38:00 PM
Description: Rockies outfielder Tyler Colvin is out for Saturday's game versus the Dodgers. He's nursing an elbow injury.
Insight: This leaves Colorado minus its entire starting outfield as Dexter Fowler and Carlos Gonzalez are also out with injuries. Consider Colvin (.290, 18 HR, 71 RBI) questionable for Sunday's game.

9/17/2012 8:28:00 PM
Description: Colorado outfielder Tyler Colvin isn't starting Monday's game against San Francisco.
Insight: Colvin (.290, 18 HR, 65 RBI) has been surprisingly productive for the Rockies this season, though his .332 on base percentage would be a lot higher if he showed more patience at the plate (only 21 walks for the season).

9/8/2012 7:06:00 PM
Description: Rockies outfielder Tyler Colvin isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's game in Philadelphia.
Insight: It looks like it's just a routine day off for the 27-year-old. Andrew Brown (.245, 2 HR, 6 RBI) is starting in Colvin's absence, though it's very possible that Saturday's game will be postponed because of severe weather.

8/31/2012 8:35:00 PM
Description: Updating an earlier story, Colorado outfielder Tyler Colvin will start in center field Friday night against the Padres.
Insight: Colvin had originally been slated to get the night off but he was added to the lineup after Dexter Fowler was scratched with an ankle injury.

8/31/2012 7:27:00 PM
Description: Rockies outfielder Tyler Colvin is not in the starting lineup for Friday's tilt against San Diego.
Insight: Colvin has had a stellar month, collecting a .337 average in 92 August at bats. Injuries to Michael Cuddyer and Todd Helton have opened the door for more playing time for Colvin and he has certainly been able to take advantage.

8/12/2012 3:30:00 PM
Description: Colorado outfielder/first baseman Tyler Colvin won't start Sunday's series finale against San Francisco.
Insight: With Colvin (.278, 13 HR, 45 RBI) sidelined, Eric Young Jr. (.296, 2 HR, 9 RBI) will play in right with Jordan Pacheco (.302, 1 HR, 26 RBI) grabbing the start at first base.

8/6/2012 9:41:00 PM
Description: First baseman/outfielder Tyler Colvin isn't in the lineup for Colorado's series opener against the Dodgers.
Insight: Even though he isn't playing tonight, Colvin (.280, 13 HR, 43 RBI) should see plenty of time at first base over the coming weeks now that Todd Helton (.238, 7 HR, 37 RBI) and Michael Cuddyer (.260, 15 HR, 56 RBI) are both out with injuries.

Cold7/26/2012 9:42:00 AM
Description: Owners who picked up Tyler Colvin after he hit five homers in his first six games of July have been sorely disappointed as Colvin has gone 6-for-43 (.140) with zero homers and one RBI in 12 games since.
Insight: Colvin is worth holding for now due to his power potential and favorable home ballpark, but owners should only give him another 10 days at most to see if he turns things around before moving in another direction. The Rockies start a nine-game homestand Friday.

6/28/2012 7:51:00 PM
Description: Colorado outfielder Tyler Colvin continued a strong June with a four-hit, five-RBI game Thursday against Washington.
Insight: Colvin smacked his fourth homer and raised his batting average to .350 (20-for-57) this month. Colvin's path to a starting job is blocked by Carlos Gonzalez, Dexter Fowler, and Michael Cuddyer, so he's only worth adding in NL-only leagues.

6/10/2012 7:52:00 PM
Description: Colorado outfielder Tyler Colvin went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs Sunday against the Angels. Colvin hit leadoff and played center field in place of Dexter Fowler.
Insight: Colvin started in right field Saturday and went 3-for-4 with two solo homers. Fowler was getting a day off for the first time since May 27 and he's in no danger of losing his job, so Colvin will have a difficult time getting in the lineup. Carlos Gonzalez starts in left field and Michael Cuddyer in right, and neither one of them is going to get many days off.

5/17/2011 6:34:00 AM
Description: The Cubs optioned Tyler Colvin to Triple-A Iowa after Monday's loss to Cincinnati. Colvin hit .113 in 62 at-bats and was not getting regular playing time. SOURCE: Chicago Breaking Sports
Insight: Hopefully this gives Colvin a chance to work on his hitting and to improve his confidence. If you have a deep bench it is worth stashing him since he will be called back up as soon as he starts hitting.

5/11/2011 3:18:00 PM
Description: The Cubs have no timetable on how long OF Tyler Colvin will get to turn his season around before they decide to send him to Triple-A Iowa for more playing time. SOURCE: Chicago Tribune
Insight: Right now Colvin is only a bench player in NL-only or deeper mixed leagues. He certainly has potential so you should keep him on your bench, if you have room.

4/5/2011 6:13:00 PM
Description: Tyler Colvin hit his first home run of the year for the Cubs today in their 6-5 victory over the D-Backs
Insight: Colvin is probably a future 20-20 guy and could be a great pick up(available in 80%+ of most leagues) if either Byrd/Soriano/Fukudome gets hurt or dealt at the deadline.

3/27/2011 7:23:00 PM
Description: Tyler Colvin hit a grand slam today; his third home run of spring training.
Insight: We would love to see what Colvin could do in a full-time role but he is currently blocked by Alfonso Soriano and Kosuke Fukudome. If either of those players suffers an injury, fantasy owners should rush out to pick up the young power hitter.
