Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina left Game 2 of the NLCS with a strained oblique.
Insight: No telling how serious at this time or how long he might be out, but this is a game-changer.

10/12/2014 10:50:00 AM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina could be in line for a rough night against Giants' starter Jake Peavy.
Insight: He has a career .176 batting average (3-for-17) against Peavy, with no extra-base hits and no RBI. Molina will look to help St. Louis even the NLCS, but will need to break out of his slump against San Francisco's starter.

9/22/2014 1:56:00 PM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is a career .400 (14-for-35) hitter with three home runs and 12 RBI against Cubs starter Travis Wood.
Insight: Molina has cooled this week after a hot streak before that, but this is a favorable matchup.

9/18/2014 2:56:00 PM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is a career .550 (11-for-20) hitter with three home runs and eight RBI against Brewers starter Kyle Lohse.
Insight: Don't expect the power from Molina on Thursday as he has not hit a homer since returning on Aug. 29 from a surgically repaired right thumb. His batting average has been ok at .253 since his return, but thumb injuries have been known to hurt a batter's power and Molina has been no different. But even without the power, this is still an extremely friendly matchup for Molina owners.

9/11/2014 6:50:00 PM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is still feeling the effects of his surgically-repaired right thumb.
Insight: Manager Mike Matheny conceded this idea to the associated press before sitting him out on Thursday. Molina is hitting .234/.315/.234 with no extra-base hits since returning from the disabled list. Fantasy owners would be better off with a different catcher until Molina starts hitting again.

9/6/2014 11:44:00 AM
Description: In the dictionary under "owning a pitcher" is Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina and Milwaukee right-hander Kyle Lohse.
Insight: Molina is a career 11-for-19 (.545) with three doubles, three homers and a 1.761 OPS in their matchups. The All-Star catcher is 3-for-8 in the first two games of this important four-game series. Start him.

8/31/2014 7:23:00 PM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina went 2-for-5 with an RBI against the Cubs on Sunday.
Insight: All the sudden with Molina back in the lineup, the second lowest scoring offense in baseball is putting up some runs. In three games back since his stint on the DL, Molina is 0-for-3, 3-for-5 and 2-for-5 and the Cardinals have scored two, 13 and nine runs in those games, respectively. Molina makes both the lineup of St. Louis and your fantasy team more potent.

8/31/2014 9:38:00 AM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is a career .424 hitter (14-for-33) with three homers and 12 RBI against Cubs starter Travis Wood.
Insight: Molina caught the back end of last night's doubleheader, but should be back in the lineup today and he should be in your fantasy lineup as well.

8/30/2014 2:39:00 PM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is not in the Cardinals lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs.
Insight: This is not a surprise. Even if Molina was not a day removed from being activated from the DL, he would not be catching both games of a doubleheader. Molina plans to catch the second game and is available to pinch hit in the first. The catcher went 0-for-3 on Friday in his first action since July 9.

8/29/2014 5:09:00 PM
Description: The Cardinals have activated catcher Yadier Molina from the 15-day disabled list, and he is in the starting lineup against the Cubs on Friday.
Insight: Molina went 5-for-6 with three doubles in his two rehab games at Double-A, so he looks ready to go. A.J. Pierzynski will serve as Molina's backup.

8/28/2014 8:11:00 PM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is set to catch five innings in a rehab start with Double-A Springfield on Thursday and then drive back to St. Louis to rejoin the big league club according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Insight: Apparently the new Cardinals owner is Rachel Phelps from Major League since Molina is driving about 220 miles back to St. Louis from Springfield, MO rather than flying. Either way, if Molina does not suffer a set back in his five innings catching at Double-A, he could be activated for Friday's game against the Cubs. Molina is set to catch five to six innings Wednesday in his first rehab start at Double-A Springfield. He will be wearing support on his surgically-repaired right thumb, but it's not expected to affect his hitting or throwing. If St. Louis wants, they can wait until Monday to move Molina up from the minors because the roster expands on September 1, but if he is ready this weekend, the Cardinals need every offensive boost they can get. Molina had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb on July 11. He'll participate in a full workout Tuesday and if he clears the hurdle will be sent to Double-A Springfield. The team is hoping to have him back by Sept. 1, if not sooner.
